One of the dramatic aspects of experiencing the city of Copenhagen are the towers, belfries and steeples around the city. The architecture of Copenhagen is characterized by a wide variety of styles, progressing through Christian IV’s early 17th century landmarks and elegant mansions and palaces of Frederiksstaden, to the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and late 19th century residential boroughs and cultural institutions to the 20th modernistic and 21st century new developments. Denmark is a Scandinavian country comprising the Jutland Peninsula and numerous islands. Copenhagen, its capital, is home to royal palaces and colorful Nyhavn harbor, plus the Tivoli amusement park and the iconic “Little Mermaid” statue. On the Island of Funen/Fyn, is the town of Odense which was writer Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown, with a medieval core of cobbled streets and half-timbered houses.
