Great Houses & Gardens of Barbados

We are pleased to announce our upcoming tour to explore Great Gardens & Houses of Barbados,  sponsored by the Berkshire Botanical Garden, February 3-7, 2020. Barbados has a rich heritage influenced by Great Britain in both architecture and gardens. The gardens of Barbados can be divided into four major groups; The surviving plantation great house gardens, public botanical gardens, grand gardens of the modern villas of the platinum coast and the wayside gardens. During the tour participants will explore Great House gardens such as St. Nicholas Abbey & Woodland Great House along with smaller houses & gardens such as Oliver Messel’s Fustic house with its very theatrical garden.  Also included are the islands important botanical gardens such as Hunts & Andromeda Gardens. Visits to privately owned historic houses such as Clifton Hall Great House and Halton House are also on the itinerary. Halton House has a fine collection of antiques and is owned by interior designer Tony Milsom, who also did work for the British aristocracy on the island of Mustique.

The tour includes a four- night stay at the Tamarind Hotel, located beachfront on the stunning West Coast of Barbados. Pre and post tour extensions are available in order to fully enjoy the magnificent beach.
